And finally, an introduction to a friend here at funkytown, Cuddlemonster. Wrought with a satanic fervor only a republican candidate could know, he emerges from the dark subsonic sludge of New York City, experimenting with massive sub-basslines complemented by an uncanny spectrum of emotion accessed from within the minimalist template. I’ve got a sampling of some of his tunes below, but be sure to check out his mix and newly released EP Dupe (which plays with a fascinating array of Diablo II samples, btw). Very much digging this fresh experimental style. Something is around the corner my friends….
JESUS Lurka just dropped this on soundcloud. It is so delectably refreshing. Unlike anything I’ve heard recently. Feel free to be like “what the fuck?”
Also in case you haven’t heard, Jack Sparrow just dropped an LP with a fellow named Ruckspin under the collab name Author. It’s a beautifully chill album, with a really interesting jazzy influence, and dynamic set of experimental tracks. From the next-level warmth of “Green and Blue” to the darkness of “Mothership” these guys will bring the bass in ways you never thought were possible. Something different. Grab the album here
Speaking of left fucking field, I’m going to bring in Skrillz here because I’ve been listening to him for a while and he always comes up with weird crazy shit that I find really interesting and different but never end up blogging about. Well here we go. He dropped this today:
Finally, on the heavier side, we’ve got updates from Korkey Buchek and Wobbelix. Wobbelix goes hard. Super hard.
Lotsa dirt to get through today (deeper tunes to come next), let’s start with Culprate. Really blows me away with his original approach to the experimental sound. Top notch production as well. Peep his soundcloud if you want MOAR. He just released this remix of Vaetxh’s Clipper last week…mental.
Some really solid downtempo stuff I’ve been meaning to share. These gentlemen are fresh, and possibly from the future.
Senseihimself, an unsigned artist, boasts tricky rhythms, refined production, and experimental sounds. The main vibe I got from this guy is “I know you know I know what I’m doing.” It’s hard not to crack a smile to some of these tunes.
Jonwayne throws himself out there a bit more with bold, distinct compositions. I’ve never quite heard anything like this, and I want more. Grab his EP, Bowser, and get your mind blown.
