There is a large difference between hearing/knowing about bass (in your headphones lets say) and FEELING bass. They are two completely different phenomenological experiences. This is what the squares don’t understand. It is purely a characteristic of the younger generation.
Music cannot only be thought of as a series of information anymore. It is an immersive bodily experience. This is our generation’s rebellion against the so-called “information paradigm.”
Inspired by The Chairmann posting ‘Charlie’, and because summer is about feeling good and enjoying the sunshine, I have decided to post a couple more tracks that have to do with just that.
The first is by the Parisian duo SomethingALaMode who we strongly support in Funkytown. Their style is a beautiful fusion of strings and smooth dance basslines, all done in a way that says “of course classical can be funky, have you not heard of the l’exception française?” Properly entitled ‘Little Bit of Feel Good’, this song was the basis of a rather unhealthy obsession of mine for quite a while. They also just released an EP that features remixes by the likes of Louis La Roche and Bloody Beetroots so be sure to check that out as well.
The second track is by the four man group Modestep and was released to much critical acclaim earlier this year. Hailing from London, they have already amassed a sizable fan base without even having completed a full album. ‘Feel Good’ begins with uplifting vocals then completely demolishes your eardrums with hard-hitting bass so make sure you have it turned up. Modestep- Feel Good
I don’t typically post dubstep tracks because bboyamir’s got that on lock but I just found this preview of Jakwob’s newest single “Right Beside You”, slated for a June 20th release. This is my shit. A beautiful musical palette, chill wobbles and female vocals that make you melt. Well played Jakwob.
