We’ve briefly alluded to Phonat in a few other posts but it’s time this talented producer got the ‘name on the marquee’ treatment. He kind of fell off my radar after the release of his first LP but ‘Love Hits the Fan’ shuffled into my ears the other day and I had to find out what kind of magic he was conjuring up these days. A few months ago he released the “Coackroaches” EP which has been blowing my mind since I picked it up. Four completely unique tracks that easily have an LPs worth of material crammed into their, all too brief, three minute run times.
Phonat is truly a genre-less producer who can impress even the highest echelons of music snobs. Despite widespread acclaim and international touring, he’s managed to fly under the radar of the mainstream commercial EDM gestapo. He could have easily been the Avicii of a few years ago but continues to release material that strays far from the simple needs of the club world. No offense to the very talented Avicii, but I hope Phonat never crosses the void.
