For those of you who have not noticed the subtle shift in weather (i.e. our friends in California), Fall is all but upon us. When you live in an area that routinely gets hammered by snow and wind, then you truly appreciate anything you can do to make yourself feel warmer whilst strolling down the sidewalk. I assume that this Autumn, like every other, is ramping up to turn frigid with a swiftness, and as such I will be dedicating each of my posts to songs that will help thaw you from the inside out…
I will begin with my two favorite songs off of the Marble Players newest EP ‘Marble Summer’. Obviously this post is slightly behind schedule but I figured what could warm you up more than music designed for the summer? For those of you who have not yet heard of Marble Players, it is a three-man group consisting of Surkin, Para One, and Bobmo who formed their own label together after their previous label was disbanded.
This first track is very laid back track that doesn’t have a ton of variation, but it’s perfect for the kind of thought-stimulation I look for in music trying to distract me from my current situation.
The second track is a little more what you’d expect out of these three. Still very chill, but definitely a lot more going on as far as song structure and instrumentation (plus there is a nice bass accent which is always appreciated here in funkytown).
And now something that should make you feel all warm inside before you even hear the song. ’96 Bulls re-edit of Wolfgang. It’s like Jordan pulling up from the top of the key: you know it’s gunna be good.
Bonus: Sorry I just had to add it cause it makes me super happy. (also check out the Justin Faust and Geisha Twins remixes)
