Some really solid downtempo stuff I’ve been meaning to share. These gentlemen are fresh, and possibly from the future.
Senseihimself, an unsigned artist, boasts tricky rhythms, refined production, and experimental sounds. The main vibe I got from this guy is “I know you know I know what I’m doing.” It’s hard not to crack a smile to some of these tunes.
Jonwayne throws himself out there a bit more with bold, distinct compositions. I’ve never quite heard anything like this, and I want more. Grab his EP, Bowser, and get your mind blown.
Listen to this mix. I recommend it with the outdoors, 80 degree weather, post graduation day drinking, and if possible a yacht. It was released by Hemingway in January to commemorate his tour with Bit Funk, also awesome. This is somehow the first thing I’ve heard from this guy so expect a post on his other work in the near future.
I haven’t heard much about this guy, The Walton Hoax, but I sure dig this track. Very chill, got that burial–mountkimbie vibe to it. And the vocals stay with you. (Edit: I originally had the wrong version of the song, the below is the original–sorry about that)
Also, Skream has this new-ish track that’s been appearing in mixes recently, such as this one or this one. It seems to be a collaboration with Hijack, and is definitely that minimalist, deep, dark, quality Skream we all know and love. He’s back.
Finally, this last track is possibly the best tune to hit dubstep yet.
Over the weekend Gottadancedirty announced that they would be releasing an exclusive three part mixtape from none other than Louis La Roche. GDD stated that every track in the mix is a Louis La Roche edit, original, or remix. Sadly (and interestingly) La Roche also announced that he would not be releasing a tracklist. My guess is that it makes the mixtape seem more like one cohesive piece as opposed to a mix. I could go on my usual spiel about how awesome Louis La Roche but that’s old news… just hear it for yourself below.
